will this awkward phase ever pass?!

Question: Will this awkward phase ever pass?
im a 16 yr old guy and ever since i hit puberty ive become ugly, socially awkward, self conscious, and depressed. iis this cause by hormones or sumthin. btw before i noticed these changes i was a very happy person and not really self conscious.

Answers:

It will definitely pass! The thing that happens when we go straight from a child to a teen is that we begin to be more aware of everything that goes on, almost like everthing become magnified times 1000.

It's then that you look at the things you do, how you act, what you look like etc, and sometimes it's not always positive, only because you now care what people think. For example, i've always been super skinny and only become self-concious when i was a teenager, i didn't care what i looked like when i was a kid! Be comfortable and confident with who your are and the phase will gradually pass.

People still make comments about my weight, but am confident and happy within myself to let it roll off my back.

Hang in there, Bubba. You're just in puberty & your male hormones are raging from one end of the spectrum to the other, trying to figure out where to settle down. This causes many issues for teen guys in puberty - like - stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue, doubt, fear, attitudes, mood swings, animosity, anger, increased appetite, too much sleep, excess energy, loss of energy, issues with buddies or girls, issues with parents or siblings, unexpected or unexplained sexual arousals, etc., just to mention a few things. Most guys handle all these issues reasonably well - but some do not - and must learn to deal with them in a more positive manner. Take it one day at a time. You will not finish puberty until at least age 21 - or later. Many more changes are headed your way. Life is not always the way it's supposed to be. It's just the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.

yes it is hormones, however your brain is also experiencing a growth spurt.
your emotional center the Amygdala is really being affected, by the release of your hormones.
Your awkward phase will pass.
Hang in there.

By reading all the answers, Im sure you get the picture: It will pass, this is normal.
And as a 14 year old guy, I can tell you that I go through this too sometimes, so you dont need to feel like you are so alone. Good luck! (Just a few more years... lol)

Yep normal.
