Feeling guilty for masturbating?!

Question: Feeling guilty for masturbating?
I am Catholic, I don't really practice anymore. I haven't been to church in a long time, but my parents still do! I am 19 and sometime I have the urge to masturbate but I don't because I feel so guilty after. Last time I did it I felt the need to pray and ask god for forgiveness. What can I do to not my myself feel so guilty.

Answers:

Do not feel guilty for masturbating. You have urges that consume you and you need to answer to. I mean sh-it if you put it this way, If you feel bad for masturbating then everyone should feel guilty for having sex, lol. Don't pray to God for forgiveness. Theres nothing to forgive because its all about hormones. Don't worry about it one second bro! If you don't practice the religion anymore then you shouldn't worry about what the man upstairs thinks. Who knows if there really is one anyway?

So, is the issue that you want to stop masturbating, or that you want to stop feeling guilty? The problem is that if you believe masturbation is wrong, you will continue to feel guilty about it. If you want to change how you view masturbation, you could realize that EVERYONE masturbates, and that God made us with sexual desires. As long as you aren't masturbating so often that it's interfering with the rest of your life, what you are doing is completely normal and natural.

For you, I would suggest a book called "Unprotected Texts: The Bible on Sex and Love." I'm attaching the article below. It shows the way that the Bible contradicts itself in regard to sexual issues-- I think you would find it enlightening.

Happy masturbating!

Sorry but you should feel guilty. Masturbation is wrong. It is the misuse of sexuality, outside the design and purpose God created it to be.

Sex is to unite a husband and wife as one flesh, it is total giving of yourself to another. Sex is also life giving, it is meant to bring children into the world. This total love and life giving act mirrors the love of Christ for his bride the Church.

Masturbation is neither life giving or love giving. Masturbation is selfish and sterile. It is a use of the carnal pleasure while rejecting the divine purpose.

You should consider going back to Church, seeking to know God and have a relationship with him.

ADDED: the idea that "everyone is doing it" and that makes it okay, is a lame excuse for sin. If everyone was murdering their neighbor, or selling children, etc. would that make it less sinful or immoral for you to do so. The world has put it's stamp of approval on masturbation, pornography, sex outside of marriage, abortion, homosexual sex, etc. Just because you are in good company doesn't make you less accountable for your actions.

i feel guilty for doing it too.... but there is one reality and that's we can't stop.... it's sad because i tried so many times but was unable.... i think it's sin ... this is my personal opinion but this is no really a big deal.... i guess god can understand us... just pray and everything's alright... don't feel guilty anymore because everyone is doing what you do and if it's a big sin then no one is going to Heaven :D

Nothing against Catholics, but I'm glad I'm NOT one. I've never understood why they say masturbation is a sin, and yet so many priest molest little boys! Makes SO MUCH SENSE TO ME!

Masturbation is a totally natural and normal thing. You should NOT feel guilty for doing it. Now, if you do it in front of some little boy or TO some little boy...THEN you should feel guilty. Otherwise, have fun and just remember to wash your hands afterwards!

It is a totally natural thing that ALL guys do at some point in their life. I am Christian not a Catholic, thank God, but you should NOT feel guilty. In the bible God says that sex is a sin. It says nothing about masturbation.

Don't beat yourself up about it. It's a perfectly normal activity. Most guys do it, but don't admit it for some reason.

You deserve to feel guilt for being Catholic, but absolutely not for masturbating.

Get over it it's a guilt trip religions put on people to make us sheep.
