It hurts when shaving. Help?!

Question: It hurts when shaving. Help?
So when I let my beard grow a bit so it's 3-5 mm it's fine to work with. A little discomfort but no problem.

BUT when I try to shave day by day, it's a nightmare. Each stroke of the razor feels like I'm driving sand paper into my pores and I get a rash from the razor.

I use new razors and don't change my technique but my Gf bothers me why I don't shave every day.

Is this normal for guys?

Answers:

Yeah man Ouch! I know exactly what you feel. I used to have the same problem too but I found a way to shave with ease and never get razor rash again. You may want to try this , see if works for you. It should.

Always shave after you've showered, your hair is soft and hydrated and easier to work with a razor. If you don't shower before a shave then get a hot wet flannel (face cloth) and put it over your face where you are going to shave, be sure to get the area under your chin, that is where your shaving rash is worse.

When your ready to shave, make sure your face and neck is wet, apply your shaving foam all over. Start shaving with the areas under your side burns and work down to the the jawline. Don't go past it, you need the shaving cream to sit under the jaw longer to soften the hair before you shave there last. Shave under your lower lip towards your bottom chin. then shave your top lip. Last shave your neck and jaw line. I always shave upwards but its been said this can jeopardize your acid mantle (the protection layer just under the surface of your skin). I get a closer shave going upwards. But you decide which works better for you ok.

I hope that helps relieve your shaving rash when you have to shave daily. Take it easy ok.
