My dad is having trouble swallowing?!

Question: My dad is having trouble swallowing?
This has been going on for about 3 years now but it hasn't been that bad, it just takes him a while to eat cause it takes him a while to swallow food and drink. But a few months ago he started choking on food and he couldnt swallow anything so he went to the hospital to get a shot to get food everyday and the doctors did some tests on him like MRI's and I don't think they found anything (and if they did my parents didn't tell me) what do you think could be wrong with him? Cancer? Stress? 10 points best answer!!

Answers:

Generally caused by a hiatal hernia in the esophagus. Hiatal hernia is a condition in which a portion of the stomach protrudes upward into the chest, through an opening in the diaphragm. My mother had this problem for years, found that if she drank something hot, like coffee or hot tea with her meal, she had much less of a swallowing problem. Some cases require surgery. If the doctor didn't diagnose this as a possibility, he should see another doctor preferably an internist.

Well I got a similar sort of complaint, mine is a growth on my larynx, caused by smoking, I,ve had two bi-opsis (sp). But being a fool, I still smoke, STUPID I KNOW !!!!!!!
My tests involved a camera being passed up my nose, and down my throat, not very pleasant but it had to be done.
I hope your dad has not got the same thing.

I know someone who has the same problem.
It was due to acid reflux.
