I would say I masturbate about once a day / once every other day. I never use lube. Would either of these affect size? I read somewhere that such things may be unhealthy

Me, personally, I prefer dry jacking off. More friction. Lube or not will not effect size. Now what you might want to do is one of the processes of jelging, and that is using a warm towel that will increase blood flow to the penile area. Since there will be more blood in the penile area and you're jacking off there MIGHT be a slight increase in penile length and girth.
