A question about circumcision?!

A question about circumcision?

I'd like someones opinion on my situation. I'm 31 years old and had a hernia operation when I was 6 weeks old. The surgeon also circumcised me. The reason he gave was he was " in the general area" so to speak. Would the same procedure be done in any other western country nowadays? It happened in Ireland. Am I really any worse or better off than any other uncircumcised male? Please give your reasons. If there's anyone with a medical backround I'd like your opinion.
Thanks.

He didn't seek permission from my parents and there was no medical reason for the procedure to be done. It was a "just in case" procedure.

Eeek, sorry. It was my question. I read your comment and felt quite sorry that this had happened to you. I can't give you any medical opinion although I did have a hernia a few years ago and I cant see how this would have needed circumcision. You can get hernia all over the stomach area but on of the most common one for men is when the part of the stomach lining or intestine falls through the gap made for your testicles to drop into your scrotum (sorry for the gory details!). The incision for this operation is made just below abdomen near whe the pubic hair starts not in the scrotum. The doctor may have had his reasons but I just can't fathom what they might have been. I might be worth speaking to your doctor about why this happened. You may be due compensation.

On the upside you aren't missing that much. The foreskin is more sensitive than the rest of the skin on your penis but maybe not as much as some people make out. As for the sex being better I don't know. Although I doubt if it is that much different. The foreskin does act as a protective barrier to the top of the penis though. I have often found than when I leave the foreskin rolled down after a shower or the like it can feel a bit irritable when wearing close. Although I guess you get used to this after several years.

PS to all the hygeine advocates I can tell you that if you think washing a penis with a foreskin is hard then you must have pretty easy lives. It takes a millisecond to pull the foreskin back and wash underneath. I don't where all this hassle is.
