Why can I lift more?!

Question:

Why can I lift more?

I have been lifting weights for about 3 years and progress has been slow and steady.
I then go on holiday for 2 weeks, don't train at all, come home, expect to be weak as a kitten, yet I have PB'd every set I have done.
Why is this?

Answers:

Well, you did what most body builders do. You let your entire body repair itself. When you took a two week break, it gave your body a fighting chance to do better reps, stronger sets, and is the better way to break a long stretch in which some people can't put up more weight. During this break, most people assume that the body is going to be weak, but during the times of work out, you do trauma to the muscle system. This trauma is what gives the muscles its ability to repair itself getting it to grow. Great Job dude, most people don't crack this secret at all.
