How much can a person shrink?!
Question:
How much can a person shrink?
A few weeks ago I was told I was 172cms exactly, not 173cms exactly. I became upset as I thought I was shrinking. I've been in hospital last year with the same problem. Initially it was because I was feeling inadequate, but as soon as they checked my height it was 171.5 instead of 171.7cms. Remember, this was August last year. I was worried, and a few days after, after asking to get measured, 171.3cms. Made me even more worried. The doctor explained it was just a discrepancy in height and was nothing to worry about. But a week or so after, 170.4cms. It even said 169.5cms at one point. I told this to my doctor and he said, 'Well, if you get any smaller than that, we'll tell someone,' Then it said 171cms exactly after a while. Then it built up to my initial height - 171.7 and beyond, to 173cms, which was proved weeks ago. But now I've regressed to 172cms. WHAT's GOING ON? CAN PEOPLE ACTUALLY SHRINK BY 2-3 cms?

I know you are taller in the morning. I know you can get slightly different measurements by different measuring devices. Weeks ago, when I was '173cms', it was late-morning. When I was '172cms' last time, it was also late-morning. What I wanna know is, can a person change height? If so, how much of a difference are we talking about? 1 mm? 2 mm? 3? 5? A centimetre or two, or three, even?
Answers:
I can depend very much on who is measuring you. We do tend to shrink a little with age. And our height during the day can differ.
Measurements made at the same time of day by the same person should be very close.
