Sperm donations?

why is that?

Answers:

You won't exactly be shooting blanks, as someone stated, but they will be very light loads ;)

Sperm cells are produced and stored in the testes. Let's say a guy has sex every day of the week. His first ejaculation is on Monday, and it has the highest concentration of sperm cells, so he is very fertile. Since it takes a while to recharge and build up a good amount of sperm cells, if he has sex on Tuesday, he's ejaculating semen of a bit lower quality, because it doesn't have as many sperm cells in it. If he ejaculates every day, by the end of the week there's just no way for his body to keep up with the production, and by Sunday his ejaculate has very few quality sperm cells in it. Additionally, if a man ejaculates really frequently, his sperm can become less motile (because they aren't high quality cells in the first place), which also affects the quality.

Since the whole point of donating to a sperm bank is to donate the best sperm so a woman can use it to fertilize one of her eggs, they ask that men not do anything that will drop their sperm count (basically the concentration of sperm in one mililiter of semen) or quality, so that there are a lot of those little cells in there and they are as good as possible. No ejaculating just basically helps make it so the donors' semen is as good as it can be when it's donated, which means it has a higher chance of fertilizing an egg.

I hope that explains it.
