I have a question concerning kidney trouble, i need someone who knows about stuff like that?

i have a friend, and he went to the dr. and they ran test on him and they found 3 or 4 cysts on 1 of his kidneys, do any of you know what would cause something like this?, he is in his 30s and worried about it. is there something out there to get rid of cysts? thank to all of you.
