Is laser hair removal can remove underarm odor?!

Question:

Is laser hair removal can remove underarm odor?

i consult my dermatologist about my underarm odor, she told me that the hair follicle that produce fatty oil glands [appocrine glands] causes the odor, i don't worry about the sweating but my main problem is the odor.

Is it ok if i try the expensive laser hair removal treatment just to treat my underarm odor? risking my $1000 cash?

Answers:

Save your cash.

Apocrine (sweat) glands under the arms secrete a substance that leads to body odor. This substance is odorless—until bacteria on the skin's surface act upon it. This reaction is the main cause of the offending odor, not underarm hair---although excessive hair can house the bacteria.

Genetics can play a part on how "smelly" you are. Some people are just born with larger, more active apocrine glands. If you are one these people, you need to do good a job in keeping the odor-producing bacteria off your skin.

Scrubbing your underarms with antibacterial soap at least twice a day will help reduce the bacteria. Should this fail, a more powerful soap is available by prescription through your physician.

Certain foods, like garlic and peppers, can also produce overpowering odors to release from your pores—even up to 24 hours of consumption.

Use deodorants that contain aluminum or zinc will help kill the bacteria. Anti-perspirants can slow down the production of apocrine sweat.

If the odor persists, consult your physician.

Good luck!
