You are totally right. I can't imagine fumbling around with a ruler in my crotch. I also can't imagine worrying about the numbers I got. I think it's all porn-driven. These children see some guy who is digitally-enhanced so he looks like he's hung like a horse. Then they look down and see something normal, and it looks tiny in comparison.
Those of us who were lucky enough to have come of age before porn was so readily available to young boys just didn't ever think about not being big enough.
