Working out questions for MEN!?

if i just wanted to get toned i know i have to higher reps with lower weights but will i still gain muscle mass in pounds?? i heard you gain a lot of muscles in pounds if you lift heavy with lower reps which i have been doing all my life. My other question is is it possible to get big and toned at the same time?? i think its impossible because i think you have to get big first then tone the muscles afterwards am i correct please help for those who have success in the gym!

Yes, my fiance says to eat a lot and continue to work out .. it is best if you eat larger meals and start gaining the weight first .. kr
