Is it becoming a norm to hit a guy between the legs?
Tv shows do it for jokes, but while hanging out with a couple of buddies, I was hit there. I don't think it's funny for anyone, even when Tv plays it as a joke.

Based on how often it happens at my school, i would say yes it is becoming a normal joke that everyone laughs at except for the person that got hit. And so help you God don't let a female learn how to do it. She will have you in tears.
