Lump checkup?!

Question:

Lump checkup?

i asked this recently but i need to rephrase it. my question is at a doctors will they do an ultrasound to look at a lump on my testicle or will they have to send me to the hospital? is this th usual checkup for a lump?

Answers:

Testicular ultrasound is very good at visualizing and diagnosing scrotal lumps. Most doctor's offices do not have the equipment necessary to do an ultrasound scan within their offices. Plus, if it were me, I would want a radiologist to interpert the findings. Radiologists are the experts at this part of the diagnosing process. I wouldn't want a radiologist to do my surgery, just as I would not ask a surgeon to perform or read my imaging studies. You should be referred to the hospital's imaging department (radiology) or a free standing, independent imaging facility. Best wishes.....
