How long does it take to get a six pack of abs?!

Question:

How long does it take to get a six pack of abs?

Answers:

Depending on how much you weigh is basically how long it will take. Every male has the six-pack abs inside, but it is covered up by excess fat. How long it takes to burn that fat is dependent upon two things, 1) how much fat you have and (2) how much you are willing to exercise. It is recommended that you only focus on training certain parts of your body once or twice per week as your body will need time to rest and build up the new muscle.

Another crucial factor is how much fat you have and how much you weigh right now.

For Example, you currently weigh 200 lbs and you want to get down to a "lean" 170 lbs. Normally, I would say it would take you approximately 15 weeks to accomplish this because the safest way to lose weight and fat is to lose it SLOWLY. Most of these people who claim that they lost 100 lbs in 20 weeks will only gain about 60 to 70% of that back in a little under one year. In order to keep the weight off, lose it slowly.

Also, you may want to consider changing your eating habits. Do not cut severly back on your eating and try to eat smaller proportions at regular intervals throughout your day. That will limit your cravings for hunger as the day progresses. Another hot tip is to do most of your carbohydrate eating during the morning hours as you will be more apt to burn that off during the day. Leave your high protien/low carb dieting for later during the day so you do not carry that to bed with you as your metabolism slows down for the night.

Another important thing is to drink lots of water. While this may not seem important in the short run, it is in the long run as with the normal course of weight loss, you will lose water weight quicker than fat weight. Also, it is important to work your muscles in a workout program, because if you do not, you will lose muscle mass quicker than fat mass.

In order to answer the original question, with all of these put together, target for losing no more than two pounds per week. To fully answer your question, take how much weight you need to lose and divide it out by two.

One final note, if you do go to a gym to workout and start weight training, you may even gain some weight from the new muscle you are building as fat is greater than muscle, but the general guidelines stated before should also apply to the near accurate amount of time you need to build a six pack
