Losing weight!?!
Question:
Losing weight!?
I am 17 years old. I weigh 250 lbs. and I am 6'3". My ideal weight would be around 210-220. I am also a pant size of 38, and I want to be a 36. Does anyone know of a good way to start losing weight, and how to stay motivated? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Answers:
You have to make a diet and stick to it.
1lb of fat = 3000 calories
Meaning a healthy weight loss is about 1-2lbs a week so you need to increase your activity and decrease your calorie intake by 6000 calories a week.
When I was in a similar situation I was eating about 1500 calories a day and working out at a light aerobic heart rate, about 130-160, for at least 2 hrs a day as well as doing some pushups and situps to help gain muscle mass which also burns calories.
With that setup I would burn all the calories I ate and a little more, your body will do the rest as it burns about 2000-2500 calories a day without doing anything and as you workout more it will increase the amount it burns.
Also don't weight yourself every day. Once a week at the same time and day every week. Keep a goal in your mind and read every single label before you even think of eating it. Keeping a running total of calorie input for the day helped me a lot as well.
Don't forget to drink water, lots and lots of it. It will keep you from being hungry and you will need it working out. 1/2 a qt to a qt not more than 1 1/4 qt an hour or 12 qt in a day.
Good luck and good to see you taking charge.
