For the same reason he checks your eyes, ears, reflexes and other body parts and functions. The MD. is just being thorough. He cares about your TOTAL heath picture and needs to gather as much information as possible during your physical exam. If you're a young guy and the Doc is female I can yunderstand how you might be made a bit uncomfortable by this. Just try and understand that he/she is just doing his/her job.
