to get an ingrown toenail trimmed? How bad is it really? The doctor said that it's nothing, but doctors never say "OH BOY THIS IS GOING TO SUCK"....what should I expect?

I've had two ingrown toenails trimmed. It really doesn't hurt much at all, but it looks gruesome - don't watch!! It doesn't hurt at all while they are doing it, as they numb the toe, and it might be a little bit sore for a couple of days, but not nearly as bad as the ingrown toenail itself. My doctor had me soak it in hot salt water a couple of times a day. Really, the pain you're having now is much, much worse than the little bit of soreness the day after. Just don't watch and you'll be fine. I was amazed at how little it actually hurt.
