The average male hip size?
In catalogues, women's size guides always have hip measurements, but men’s hardly ever do. I appreciate this is because women's hipbones are naturally broader, but what IS the average male hip size? Do men ever buy their usual size, only to find the garment doesn't fit them around the hips because the stupid catalogue didn't go into it? Thank you very much!

A big part of this is cultural. Men often aren't expected to wear clothing that accentuates their hips. That is the main reason for having hip measurements. It's taken when tailor made stuff is done, like costumes and suits, but for the most part it varies in men just as much as it does in women. the thing that has changed this slightly is where pants are worn which is quite a bit lower that it was 20-30 years ago but we still call it our waist size.
