It's better to have a little foreskin when soft; that's what they're supposed to leave anyways. If you didn't have a little foreskin, your penis would have painful erections (since it would be restricted) and could cause you to have a hairy shaft (since the pubic skin would be pulled if there was a lack of skin). The doctor was really thoughtful to do that, because I have a friend who had it done for 'looks' and it ended up really tight. He regrets it because now he has to use lubes for masturbation and such. Having a little skin also prevents that.
