My hair is thinning..?

I'm only 21 years old and my hair is really thinning on the top. I know it's genetics because my dad is bald. But I'm only 21...I mean I still have hair but it's noticeably thinning. My doctor recommended rogaine or propecia...but I don't know if I should use them...side effects maybe? Does anyone know from experience if they work and if they're safe for a young man like me?

Propecia is safe for somebody your age, as it has relatively small side effects. The only recognised one is a reduction in libido in about 1% of people who take it. Even this can be helped with smaller dosage etc.
