Question:

I need advice on how to hold the breath longer...?

im 34 y.o. and i just learned how to float on water. im learning now to try few strokes to swim but my problem is, i cant hold my breath longer than 11 seconds... its maybe out of fear... or too much concentration... any tips on how to hold breath longer?

Answers:

I'll start off giving the answer:
Breathe deep breaths a few times, until that you feel you no longer need oxygen, then start going down under water and hold your breath.

Explanation:
The reason why you need to breathe is cause of something to do with the pH of the blood. With lesser breathing, the concentraton of the oxygen in the blood would go down, and carbon dioxide go up. This would case a pH change(I forgot if it's acidic of basic) and then the brain would respond(I won't go into the details), by making u breathe (too much to go into).

Hence, by taking in deep breaths, the brain will be tricked that there is a lot of oxygen concentration in the blood, and would certainly last longer not breathing.

Hope this helps!
