Gynecomastia?!

Question:

Gynecomastia?

I have gynecomastia and i have had it for 5 or 6 years and im 14 and i was wondering if it is possible that it will go away on its own i started puberty early at age 8 or 9 and yea. also does gynecomastia have anything to do with genetics because my dad said he had it but it went away after 3 years...

Answers:

Some men suffer from oestrogen sensitivity and hormonal changes, such as puberty, can cause oestrogen boosted changes. Your body does what it can to stabilise hormones so with puberty a natural release of testosterone (natural for boys) triggers growth spurts ,, sometimes your body tries to compensate by releasing more oestrogen... hence the development of gynecomastia in some boys. I suffered the same problem even though I wasn't fat... I swam 5 miles a day for competitive swimming and was on the basketball and the football team.. it was embarrassing... but like your father, the symptoms did eventually go away once I had fully grown.
