Is it possible for a guy to start shrinking early?
All this time I thought only seniors at 60+ yrs old start shrinking, but...
A friend of mine was measured 5"8/172 cm at campus hospital last year. He was measured again this year (at the same place and by the same person) and he lost almost an inch (now 170 cm). It shocked everybody because he's only 24. The hospital's doctors planning to do some tests before recommending him to go see an osteo...something (osteologist?).
Hows that possible? Is it even possible?
Btw can a diet possibly have a significant effect? He's been on diet the past year to shed some 30 lbs from his weight. I personally thought theres a chance its stopping his growth but never reversing it.

Like the first answer, was he wearing shoes?
Also, has he been exercising? slouching at the computer will get a curve in the spin, or if he wasn't standing straight the second time might account for a 1" loss...which should be considered unusual....
He shouldn't start shrinking until he is about 55 or 60.
