Question:

Whats the difference between...?

whats the difference between a penis thats circumcised or not circumsiced?
are most guys circumcised? why?

Answers:

World wide, about 15% of men are circumcised, while in the US, around 55% of newborns are circumcised.

A circumcised male has had the foreskin removed, reducing the sensitivity of the shaft. He also has the head permanently exposed, reducing the sensitivity of that over time.

Men who are circumcised as babies don't know about, or understand the difference. Most men who are circumcised later in life do notice the loss of sensation.

There are NO medical benefits to circumcision - see the websites for the American Medical Association and the American Association of Pediatrics. Their policies state that routine circumcision is not necessary for newborns (this reverses their 1970's position).

Circumcision rates in the US have fallen each year since they peaked at 90% in 1968. The present rate nationally is about 55%, with some states much lower than the average.

Just to be clear: circumcision does not prevent STDs or cancer; it does not make a man cleaner, or less smelly (those are down to personal hygiene). Although for men who have UNPROTECTED sex with HIV+ partners, there is a reduction in transmission rates in circumcised men, it only reduces, not eliminates the risk. (Why would anyone have unprotected sex with random partners anyway?)

The only valid reason for circumcision is religious belief and personal choice. Jewish and Muslim faiths require this operation.
