My bf, 21 yrs old, has problems maintaining an erection?!

Question:

My bf, 21 yrs old, has problems maintaining an erection?

My bf and I have been dating for over 2 years. We love each other and are attracted to each other. It seems that when we have sex recently, he can't seem to maintain an erection. He'll have one to start and then lose it. We can usually get it erect again, but then lose it again... We are both very frustrated--he says it has nothing to do with me, and I think it might be because he is a tad overweight, smokes, doesn't really exercise, and has a poor diet.

BUT, I also think it could be that we've been together for a while and he is tired of me, even though I do my best to spice things up. He might be too nice to tell me... but I don't want him to break up with me if this is the case...

What should we do? Has this happened to anyone else? We are both very much in love with one another but can't help arguing about this.

Answers:

The smoking, lack of exercise, and poor diet might have something to do with it. But, when I was 21, I smoked, drank, and my diet was awful but I wasn't overweight. I had no problems maintaining an erection. At 21, he should be raring to go.

If he was unable to get any type of erection at all, that would be a physiological problem(something wrong with the plumbing). But since it's a question of keeping that erection, I think it's more of a mental thing. Maybe stress, trying too hard to please you, worrying about it, or he might be bored. And the more he thinks about it, the more difficult it'll be for him. He just needs to relax and go with the moment. Just don't freak out about it because that'll cause him to worry more which means more problems with an erection. Just be supportive and talk to him about it. Ask him straight out if he's bored with the sex. Maybe there's something he wants to do that he's afraid to ask.
