im a 15 year old boy and 5foot 6.5 so am i short?
and does swimming help to get taller?

Hey, I'm 5 foot 6.5 inches too (well, very slightly taller than that)! That height is well within the "average" range, so you're not short. It leans a little on the short side of average though. At your age you may still grow taller, or you may not, it depends on your genes. Some guys stop growing taller at around your age whereas other guys keep growing into their early 20s. A few (quite uncommon) actually experience a brief second growth spurt in their mid- to late-20s, which is kinda weird.
I don't think swimming really helps, but it'll at least make you more fit (which is always good).
