For ppl who go to the gym?

k so im already skinny, and ever since i started going to the gym (1 month) instead of gaining muscle and looking buffer ppl are telling me that i look even skinnier. is that possible? i mean i do feel more muscle in my arms but my waist has shrinked even more. is it bcuz i also do cardio? should i stop doing cardio? cuz my trainer told me (1 month ago) if ill be drinking protein shakes (which i do) that i should also do cardio to not gain weight, but im losing weight. so what can i do? or is this normal, is it a phase u go through bfore getting musclar?

Okay, previuosly my condition was also the same as you, only that my trainer told me to skip off the cardio, because initially I am skinny already. Its true you'll have to drink protein and eat more to gain muscle mass because your body requires energy from the exercise you do. If it doesnt have enough energy to restore, it will breakdown the muscles to substitute the energy lost. Thats why you will look skinnier that way. Cardio is for people who need to lose off body fat and weight uses up a lot of energy. Since you are the skinny type with high metabolism, its best you dont do cardio so that you can gain weight, weight as in muscle mass, not fat. Otherwise it will be pointless. When you train to a level that you feel you have to lose of some weight or body fat, then you begin training cardio. But for now, skip off the cardios since youre aiming for building muscle mass,
