Ppl who go to the gym?

k so im already skinny, and ever since i started going to the gym (1 month) instead of gaining muscle and looking buffer ppl are telling me that i look even skinnier. is that possible? i mean i do feel more muscle in my arms but my waist has shrinked even more. is it bcuz i also do cardio? should i stop doing cardio? cuz my trainer told me (1 month ago) if ill be drinking protein shakes (which i do) that i should also do cardio to not gain weight, but im losing weight. so what can i do? or is this normal, is it a phase u go through bfore getting musclar?


Answers:

Both factors are very important so both need to be done. However, think of your body as a big bag of energy. The more energy you put into an area, then the more that area is going to delvelop. Cardio is needed to get the heart going and good circultion of blood supply. This is CRITICAL to aid muslce development. What I do is I do Cardio on a cross trainer first, get my heart rate up to about 169 (my age heart rate) then do that forabout 30 minutes. If I want to gain muscle then I go to weights and start as soon as I get on a machine so the blood can carry the oxygen to my muscles faster and develop faster.

If you are losing more weight then this simply is a sign that you are not eating enough for what you are trying to achieve. Muscles require tonnes of energy for them to develop and that means you need to eat more. Protein shakes are excellent for this but only involved in a special diet. Eat high protein foods and lots of eggs, chicken and beef etc. It sounds to me like you are using more calories doing excercise than you are taking in. So up the amount you eat I think it would be.

As for me... I went from no muscle to muscle because I did the method I mentioned. Eating lots and doing cardio and muscular excercises.
