It's a lot for you to handle for a girl at your age. Recently one of my relatives goes into depression because of some health concern. Even though it has been proven that his health is 100% OK several weeks ago, he is still recovering from his depression. He has emotion swing, wants to talk to people about his conditions, and analyzing things over and over again to the point people close to him feel it's draining as well.
I can't tell from your question whether the situation with your guy has been like that for a while or it's something recent. I feel he needs continuing family and friends support (probably from you) as well as professional help. They will determine if medication is needed for his case.
Does this guy have any religous belief? If so, he might want to get help from that angle as well.
Support and encouragement, sometimes medication are the ways to help this guy. It will take a lot from you as well. So be prepared and don't get discouraged.
