Question:

How many sets per week?

hey all...im really new to this n i have a few questions.


ok....basically i wna noe....how many sets of exercises do i need to do for each muscle group? for example...if i do three sets of triceps extensions....and two sets of bench dips to failure....then are those 5 sets enough?? or do i do 2 sets?? or 3??? or what? i want to increase muscle size btw.

also...how long shud i rest btwn sets approximately?

and lastly...how many times a week do i need to work out a certain muscle??? if i do my biceps on monday...then do i need to work it out again on the same week? or is once a week enuf?

Hi. Try the following system
Day 1: Chest, shoulders, triceps, abs.
Day 2: Back, biceps
Day 3: Legs.
Use this split and train at the most every other day. If day 1 is on a Monday you train next on a Wednesday, then Friday, then Sunday . . . . .
I recommend using warm up sets before actually starting to strain, 2-3 should be enough where you slightly increase the weight on each. Remember that the goal is for the muscle to be warmed up.
I think it is enough to do 2-3 working sets per muscle, anymore and you risk overtraining which is very bad.
You should rest anywhere from 1-3 min between sets, it just depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Try to go heavier if you want to gain strenght and weight and then you need longer rest between sets.
