i just heard tha t having sex with a woman on her periods is dangerous how far is the truth? is blood clean?

Unless the woman has a blood borne disease - like HIV (AIDS), there is no problem having sex with a woman who is menstruating (if you both agree), unless you can't stand the sight/smell of the discharge.
I believe it was probably a smart woman somewhere in the past that started the rumor that having sex at that time would "drain" his manhood some way. This was done to give her a period (pardon the pun) of respite from sex.
Having sex with a woman who is menstruating won't protect you from STD's so still use a condom, unless your sure both of you are disease free.
In some cultures it is actively promoted, as its almost impossible to conceive at that time.
