Circumcision?!

Question:

Circumcision?

I have a couple questions...
1. What is the procedure on an adult circumcision?
2. What is the healing time?
3. Where do you get a non-religious one?
4. Are there any medicinal based videos of the procedure?

Answers:

1. I believe there are many different ways of doing an adult circumcision. Regardless, all will be done under local anesthesia and will require stitches.

2. The healing time is about 2-4 weeks. During this time erections may be painful as they pull on the stitches and the glans (penis head) may be oversensitive to the point of pain (as it's unused to being exposed). The sensitivity should wear off in about a month or so and become bearable.

3. Adult circumcisions are usually done by a urologist or maybe a plastic surgeon.

4. If you search for videos in any search engine you'll probably find something. It seems like most of the circumcision videos are on typical infant circumcisions, which are quite different from adult ones (links 1 & 2 for an infant ones; be warned, they're graphic).

If nothing's wrong with your foreskin, I'd suggest that you reconsider circumcision. If you've a medical problem concerning the foreskin, there are usually other treatments that are cheaper, less painful, and have a quicker recovery time.

Just so you know, circumcision would remove a lot of nerve endings in the foreskin that would otherwise contribute to sexual sensitivy (link 3). In addition, several studies seem to indicate that the foreskin may play a positive role in the sexual satisfaction/pleasure of not only the man, but woman as well (links 4, 5, 6). So it's likely that things may not feel as good afterwards compared to before.
