I have an accessory bone! What is it for?!

Question:

I have an accessory bone! What is it for?

OK .. I know... but this is a serious question ... an MRI scan shows I have an "accessory os acromiale" in both my shoulders that apparently only 1 in 10 people on average have. What do you think it is (or was) for?

Answers:

They call it a "floating rib"...its wont hurt you, but it might cause neck pain and cause pinched nerves in the trapezious muscle. Other wise you can have it removed. It is something that stays with some people, they say it is something that didnt completey go away during the evolutionary process. but a lot of people who get pinched nerves alot, end up having the floating rib and they have it removed and bingo!!! pinched nerves gone.
