I have an anteriosuperior labral tear in my shoulder. Is that bad?!

Question:

I have an anteriosuperior labral tear in my shoulder. Is that bad?

Can it be rectified?

Answers:

Yes, it can be rectified. Mostly by arthroscopic surgery. It needs to be fixated in order to prevent other shoulder injuries. The biceps (long head) originates in that area. Forceful elbow flexion may cause a complete tear and should be avoided. If your pain persists and you minimize shoulder movement, you are at risk for frozen shoulder. Although it is possible to heal spontaneously, it may take a long time because it is part of the joint capsule. Unlike muscles which have a direct blood supply, joint surfaces are nourished by diffusion, therefore, a slower rate of healing. I hope this helps you make an informed decision. Good luck!
