Please don't ignore this... im worried... I'm in 7th grade going into 8th.. and I'm not the tallest.... Is there any way... and please don't say... It's your genes... if your dad is tall then you will be.... is there any way... like eating meat.... or working out... for me to get taller?

Answers:

You haven't really begun to grow yet, so yes you will get taller and you won't really have to do anything. There are no miracle grow pills for humans. Eat a good balanced diet, maintain a good exercise program and you body will do all the rest. For boys, the growth spurt doesn't usually hit until sometime between 14 and 17, so you are just at the start of things. You may not like this answer, but it is the absolute truth. For the best recommendation for a workout program, ask your PE coach. He will be the best one to determine your current level of fitness and what you can do to improve it. I know you are self conscious about your height, but I assure you it will change. Nobody can tell you at this point in your life what your final height will be, although yes, it will be heavily influenced by your genetics and there is nothing you can do about that. As long as you are in the normal range for human height, there is no treatment required or available. I have three sons, and the eldest also had this complaint at your age. He started sprouting the following year, and turned out just fine. He wasn't the tallest in his class, he wasn't the shortest, and in the end it just didn't matter anymore. He wasn't a great basketball player anyway, and he wasn't built to be a jockey, but aside from those two career limitations, it's not been a major problem for him. So you may not end up as tall as you would like to be, you will not be a side show dwarf either. The great changes of puberty are just beginning, be patient, and you will grow. You will also find plenty of other things to stress over, and how tall you are will be way down on the list.
