Young men on propecia?!

Question:

Young men on propecia?

My 17 year old son is taking propecia for hair loss. He seems to be very emotional. I was wondering if any other young men are having a similar effect, and how long does it take for the propecia to start working and for the hormonal changes to even out?

Answers:

I, too, noticed the first signs of my hair thinning when I was 17. I started on Rogaine during my Senior year of high school, but to no avail. Unfortunately, Propecia didn't come out for a few more years and I had given up hope by that point.

Needless to say, I know exactly how your son is feeling in regards to hair loss. As my alopecia continued through my twenties, I am now almost completely bald on top (I'm now 30yrs old). However, time has allowed me to learn to adjust and deal with the fact that I wasn't meant to have hair my whole life.

My hope is that your son is in the very small percentage of balding men who can legitimately blame it on something other that genetics. And I hope the Propecia reverses it comepletely. Good luck with the meds.
