I need to know if this is a frenulum on my penis.?!

Question:

I need to know if this is a frenulum on my penis.?

I have read that the frenulum is located on the bottom of the penis. Well, I have something that is similar to the frenulum on the part of my penis that faces my body. I believe that it is stopping my penis from growing. I want to know if this was an error that occured when I was circumcised and if it can be corrected.

Answers:

The frenulum is only found on the underside of the glans (penis head) and doesn't affect penis growth (link 1). But what you describe is not a frenulum and sounds rather like a skin bridge.

A skin bridge is almost exclusively a post-op complication of infant circumcision when not enough care/attention was made for the first 2 weeks or so after the procedure. It results because during an infant circumcision, the edges of the foreskin that were removed and the glans are raw (because the infant foreskin is attached to the glans, and must first be forced apart). These raw edges can fuse and heal together, forming skin bridges (a more common complication than one might think).

Usually skin bridges cause no problems and have no impact on penis growth, though they're usually unsightly and can cause painful/uncomfortable erections. See links 2 and 3 to confirm whether or not what you've described is a skin bridge or not (warning, there are graphic pics).

Fortunately, this complication is easy to fix. Pretty much any general physician/pediatrician can do it, but if you want to be extra sure, a urologist is preferred.
