My Boyfriend's privates smell all the time!?

He showers and washes them 3 times with dial soap. But it still smells kinda funny.
What can he do? Special soap? Could it be a medical issue?
They look great and clean, though.

The smell could result from a variety of causes. It's possible that he washes it too much. Sometimes washing the area too much might cause it to dry out and become slightly raw. Once a day during a shower/bath should be enough. If he's uncircumcised, he should pull back his foreskin and wash the area underneathe with water and a mild soap like any other part of his body.

Also, sometimes the kind of soap can cause irritations that may lead to a bad smell. If the soap he's using is heavily scented, it might be too strong and he may have to switch to a milder and probably scentless soap. In addition, some chemicals in some detergents may cause irritation in some guys, so that could be a source of the problem too.

The smell could also result from a minor infection, like a yeast infection or something. In which case it's best to see a doctor if it's not soap and doesn't seem to improve in a week or so. Antibiotics or antifungals clear that right up. Eating yogurt and I think cranberry juice helps as well.

There actually is a medical condition that affects some people where their bodies can't metabolize some of the stuff in junk foods or certain foods. But if that were the case, he'd probably smell in other areas of the body too. Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to eat a more balanced diet and exercise somewhat regularly, as those sometimes might help with reducing the smell (after he's all clean after a shower of course).
