How should I lift weights to gain definition?!

Question:

How should I lift weights to gain definition?

I currently work out at least 2 days a week. If I don't make it to the gym, I at least do some ab workouts, or something that doesn't require weights (like burpees, jackknifes, other things I found on menshealth.com).

If I want to gain definition and look more cut, should I lift with more weight and less reps, or less weight more reps?

Answers:

To begin with you need to go to the gym more often. Although you keep busy in the days when you're not there, working with weights is the best way to get definition.

To look more cut you need to strip any excess fat away from the muscles, so the muscle you do have looks more defined. The only way to do this is by increasing the amount of cardio you do. Losing this excess will definitely make you look more cut.

When you're in the gym, you should mix up your routines, to stop the muscles getting used to the same workouts. But for definition its better to do more reps with a lower weight. However, for each body part I would throw in a couple of low reps with a heavy weight, just to keep the strength there.
