Boil in groin area.. what to do for this?
my boyfriend has a boil which does not have a head to it yet. but it is red and about an inch and a half by an inch and a half in area. he does not want to go to the doctor of course. and i looked for an ingrown hair and did not see any.. i wonder if a hot or cold pack would be best?.. any hints for me? thanks!

Hot compress might help but if its very painful it much safer for a doctor to drain it. Boils are an infection of the hair follicle. Sometimes trying to pop it can drive the infection deeper and end up much worse. A doctor can easily lance it so the infection will drain out and maybe prescribe some antibiotics. I have had one so bad that it landed me in the ER! Be careful...
