Testicle Pain Doctor Doesnt Want To Deal With?!

Question:

Testicle Pain Doctor Doesnt Want To Deal With?

I have been uncomfortable for the past 6 months due to a pain in my testicles. It started in my left, then moved to both of them. Dad told me to wait it out, but it got worse, so I saw a urologist. He told me I had an inflamed epidydimis(?) in both, and to take 400 mg of Ibuprofen twice a day. He had me take a sonogram just in case. Sonogram came out clean, but a day after the sonogram, my left testicle has been paining me like crazy, every movement hurts it. I called my urologist today, who said everything came out clean and there was nothing he could do. My pediatrist (Im 17) said that if I felt I needed to go to emergency, then I should, but my Mom said that the best they could do was really but a bandage on it and send me on my way. I know something is wrong, I the advil hasnt been helping at all. What else can I do? My grandfather said I should visit his doctors up in New York, but Im just starting a new job, and its gonna be a month before I can get a week off. What can I do?

Answers:

From what I can determine through your question, your urologist diagnosed you as having epididymitis, or an inflamed epididymis. The inflammation is usually caused by a bacterial infection, which can be transmitted through sexual intercourse or through the spread of a bladder infection.

Several tests, including STD screening and ultrasound, can be conducted to determine the condition. If the results are positive, an antibiotic will most likely be prescribed as treatment.

If you feel you have received inadequate medical attention from your urologist, then by all means, seek another.

If you do, it will help with the diagnosis if you are forthcoming and thorough with your information as much as possible. By establishing an open communication with your physician from the very beginning, you can help strengthen your doctor/patient relationship, and can help you get the proper treatment you need.

This, in turn, will help you get faster relief – which is what it’s all about.

Take care and good luck!
