Diet plan for a man?

My husband is wanting to lose a bit of weight and get into shape. I know that he can not follow my plan, but i want to tweak one for him. I need to know how many calories, proteins, fats and carbs a man who weights 170 and is 5'8" needs to consume to stay helathy, but lose weight. He is starting an exercise program now. Exactly what it pertains, I am not sure. If I could get any suggestions I would appreciate it.


Answers:

The amount of calories he needs to intake will be determined by the amount of activity he does. Also, since he is just starting an exercise program, I would suggest giving him a few weeks to adjust to the program before you start meddling with his dies. Just NO sodas!

Below is a calorie calculator to use as a GUIDELINE for calorie needs. Just keep in mind this is very general and doesn't take into account other activies your husband might be doing daily (roofer, walking up 20 flights of stairs a day, walking 2 miles a night as a security gaurd etc).
