Guy Shaving Problems?!

Question:

Guy Shaving Problems?

Hi I'm 23 and have a problem with shaving... It seems really no matter what I do (except trimming my beard to a 2 day growth) I have a problem. When I shave with straight raiser my face looks a likes its broken out with pimples (but usually only on the neck) and when using electric it still gets read there on my neck. I'm not sure what could be done as I've tried several recommended things by my doctor and various dermatologists (pre-shaves, after-shaves, lotions, cleansers, etc.) but as I stated trimming my beard to a 2 day growth seems to be the only solution that's been working, but with that it seems I can only trim it about 2 days a week. I would love to be able to maintain a near clean shaven face, even if I would only be able to shave 2-3 days a week. So if anybody knows of any solutions and/or what could be causing my problem please let me know...

Answers:

I am 21 and I have the same problem. It's very sensitive, especially around the neck area.

What I found really, really helps if to use a razor (not electric) and shaving cream that is especially formulated for sensitive skin. I never use an electric razor as this irritates the skin more as you have to keep going over the skin to remove the hair. Remember also to change the razor blade regularly to reduce irritation.

Also, make sure you shave WITH the grain of the hair. NEVER shave against the grain, as this can really hurt and cause heaps or irritation.

Then, right after you finish shaving, apply a cream that will do the following things:
- Soothe razor burn
- Moisturise
- Fight pimples and acne
I use Clearasil for Men After-Shave Balm. It does all those things and reduces the pain and visible redness.

Before doing all these things my face and neck used to look like a cut-up tomato after shaving, but now my face and neck (although a tad red immediately after shaving) now looks normal!

Hope this helps!
