Why is masturbation considered a sin?!

Question:

Why is masturbation considered a sin?

Answers:

Masturbation is not a sin. Many people misinterpret biblical scripture in such a way that anything that can be interpreted as sexual (in the absense of marriage) as being sinful. The story of Onan (spilling his seed on the ground) is often used to justify people who belive it is sinful although in reality that story has absolutely nothing to do with masturbation. In fact, masturbation is not described in the bible by any person at any time (so how can it be considered sinful?) Every sin in the bible is clearly spelled out (several times over) so I'm sure if God wanted to decree self pleasuring a sin, he would have done so in plain language. Lust is considered a sin in the bible so depending on how you interpret that, looking at pornography or undressing a girl with your eyes could be considered sinful. However, I personally feel that lust means desiring something for your self and even though I am sexually stimulated by porn, I do not actually desire any of the performers so it's not really lust. Basically, you have to make up your own mind and possibly pray for those answers yourself, but the bottom line is the actual act of masturbation is only a sin to the ignorant people who don't really read the bible properly. Good luck!
