How to increase muscles? HELP ME PLEASE, I;m in trouble?!

Question:

How to increase muscles? HELP ME PLEASE, I;m in trouble?

i'm 17, 62 kg, height 5' 10''. i can't eat much, but these days i've started eating a bit more, maintaining a good routine, i do a bit more exercise too. I stopped eating too much junk food, chocolate, fizzy drinks. I try to sleep early at night. Still it's not working. I'm thinking of going to gym. But i heard if i go to gym, my height will stop increasing.
So I became helpless. When I walk with my frnds, I look like a tiny bamboo-stick beside lots of stuntmen. Please someone who has big muscles help me. Tell me your secret. PLEAAAAAAASE. thnx a lot

Answers:

Going to the gym will not affect your height. You have to consider your genes. If you come several generations of tall slender people then you probably won't get big and bulky muscles no matter how hard you try.

The other thing you need to realize is that muscle tissue doesn't actually 'increase'. It can expand or shrink in shape or tone but what you've got is what you'll always have. To increase muscle tone and make them hypertrophy (look bigger) you have to put stress on them with consistent weight training and eat a lot of proteins. If you are already doing weights and not seeing any results, then maybe the routine is not enough for you. Talk to a trainer at a gym and ask him/her to set up a workout program for you. The weights you are using should be heavy enough that you can't move them too quickly or too easily and such that you will begin to feel the 'burn' after your 4th or 5th set. Still, I don't recommend that a beginner should arbitrarily start lifting heavy weights, especially if you're using free weights without a spotter. Its very easy to injure yourself, and sometimes the damage can be real bad.

Also be careful about not eating. Even at 17 your body is still growing, and you need all your food groups---including fats. 136lbs is pretty skinny for a guy who's 5'10" so you also need to concentrate on gaining more fat mass. Not the unhealthy fats like fried foods and pops, but maybe some of those carb shakes that you can buy at GMC. Those are very good at packing on the pounds when you're trying to gain weight. Here's the rip though, as I mentioned at the beginning, if your body is naturally skinny you probably will not retain the extra weight if you're doing really aggressive workouts (remember that weight training burns fat).

If I were you I would concentrate on gaining some weight first, and then do routine muscle building to tone up.
