i've always wondered the same question my friend, i tried this once and it too came back thick, but i have your answer:
the reason why it grows back thicker is because you are shaving off dead hair as in when you shave your head/hair the dead cells/hairs push it upward forcing more hair to be grown out, you may see some bald people but thats because their cells have stopped pushing the hairs forward as they get older
