When trimming armpit hair, will the hair grow back thicker? longer?

It grows in just the same. However, what is obvious is that when there is no armpit hair, the problem with odor is significantly decreased. It took me years to convince my hubby to shave his. When he finally did, he commented that he never realized the odor was more on the hair, than the skin. He still shaves them!
