When a guy is circumsized they are suppose to have all the skin cut off right?!

Question:

When a guy is circumsized they are suppose to have all the skin cut off right?

But what is they are circumsized but there is still a lot of skin...you can't tell when they are errect, but when limp it looks like it covers most the head....like a turtle popping its head out a little...why is that?? Its almost like the extra skin has to be there for the erection..

Answers:

When a guy's circumcised only the foreskin is removed. The foreskin is kinda made of 2 layers: the "outer" foreskin that's continuous with the shaft skin, and the "inner" foreskin that's more similar to the glans (penis head) and contains a lot of nerve endings.

When the penis is limp, the foreskin kinda rolls over itself so only the outer foreskin is exposed. Upon an erection, the foreskin of many guys naturally retracts, exposing the glans and the inner foreskin (like a turtle popping its head out). The outer foreskin sort of pulls back and becomes part of the shaft skin, so to speak.

During a circumcision, the outer and most of the inner foreskin are removed, leaving mostly the shaft skin. If too much skin is removed (i.e. some of the shaft skin is removed) then erections can be painful as there isn't enough skin to cover the entire erection. Thus erections might end up being smaller and weaker than they should be.

See the link for some comparison. Be aware it contains graphic images, but if you're not bothered it might give you a clearer idea of what's going on.
